What isSubtropic?

Subtropic is a festival celebrating Black creativity and the music that continues to move us.

Born from the Black, queer and marginalised communities that shaped the foundations of house music in Chicago, and the Black innovators who gave the world techno in Detroit, this culture has never stood still. Its sounds have travelled, crossed borders and been transformed by generations of people around the world, from house and techno to UK garage, Afro house, gqom and amapiano.

This is the crossing. Subtropic brings those sounds, histories and communities into conversation. A celebration of the creativity that has shaped electronic music, the artists pushing it forward, and the African diaspora and wider global community connected through the dance floor.
